After the press
Caring for your printed piece
Print is dye in cloth and film on metal. Both survive a wash; neither survives bleach.
Do this
- Wash printed cotton and fleece garments inside out in cold water.
- Wipe printed stainless steel drinkware clean with a soft cloth by hand.
- Line dry fabrics away from direct heat to preserve the dye.
- Bring outdoor yard flags inside before heavy wind and storms arrive.
Not this
- Do not use bleach on printed cloth or canvas pieces.
- Do not run printed drinkware through hot machine wash cycles.
- Do not iron directly over the printed dye area.
- Do not dry fleece or polyester blankets on high machine heat.
Why we sort by surface
A photo is not ink on flat paper. On a fleece throw, dye sinks into the pile. On a stainless tumbler with a lid and straw, the artwork wraps around metal. Sorting by surface lets you see how your picture, pet portrait, or monogram will actually sit once the press runs.

Do you print the picture yourself, or is this a shop front?
The press is ours and the catalogue is written here. The checkout is not ours: every piece is bought at our retail partner, and that is where payment and delivery are arranged.
How good does my photograph need to be?
Good enough that you can see the detail at full size on your own screen without it turning mushy. A picture that looks fine as a phone thumbnail can fall apart across a throw a metre and a half wide. Screenshots of photographs are the usual culprit.
Will the colours match what I see on my screen?
Close, not identical. Screens make colour with light and print makes it with ink, so deep blues and bright reds shift slightly on fabric. Skin tones hold up well. Neon does not.
Why does the same photograph look different on a tumbler and on a blanket?
Because the surfaces are nothing alike. A blanket is a wide flat field with a soft nap that swallows fine strokes. A tumbler is a narrow curved band, so the picture wraps and the edges of the frame end up out of sight. Choose the surface around the picture, not the other way.
Can I put more than one person on a piece?
Yes, and the larger the surface the better it works. Group shots suit throws, flags and beach towels. On a tumbler or a phone sized panel somebody always ends up at the fold.
How long does a temporary transfer last?
A few days on skin that is not scrubbed, less on hands or anywhere that rubs against clothing. They are made to come off, so treat the number as a rough few days rather than a promise.

Why the surface decides the print
We sort our catalogue by the material we print on, because cloth, metal, and acrylic treat a photograph differently. A wide throw gives room for an open background, while a curved tumbler wraps it, and a shirt breaks it across seams, plackets, and folds. The surface sets the crop.

Personalisation is ink on a surface, not sorcery. A picture that appears clear on a small phone screen can break down when printed onto a piece. We look at the background, the light source, and the margin around the head before the file goes to the press.
Outdoor notesPrinting outdoor pieces for the yard
Outdoor printing has to work against sunlight, rain and distance. A flag sits near the sidewalk while a doormat sits flat underfoot at the door. How you prepare the picture depends on where the viewer stands and what the weather does to the cloth and matting over time.
